COVID 19 Response

Over the last year, since the inception of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), we have seen significant increased utilization of enteral nutrition and parenteral nutrition products due to the use of ventilation in patients with COVID-19. Those requiring ventilations are not able to meet their nutrition needs by mouth and often require nutrition support. HNC continues to monitor the  PHE and the health care supply network to ensure extreme disruptions to products and services do not occur. It is critical that authorities understand the role of nutrition for those with COVID-19 and to help make sure these patients have access to nutrition products they need.

HNC worked with partner organizations to present a Congressional Briefing titled “Older Adult Nutrition Security: Next Steps for Congress” that included discussion on the impact of COVID-19 for patients in the hospital and their recovery, as well as the impact of the pandemic for the community. Please visit this page to learn more about the briefing and view a recording.

Below are HNC comment letters related to COVID-19.
